Garden Greetings from Eastern part of North Carolina! I have visited your beautiful state twice while visiting my son and his family.I have a request.---- while visiting this past March, I noted an huge outdoor basket with flowers in it located in ANKENY. It looked like a normal woven basket but shiny. My son promised to stop @ the house and inquire where I could locate one BUT the residence have moved. Please help solve this mystery. Thanks!

I haven't seen this basket. Could it have been spray-painted with a glossy paint? Could it have been woven of shiny synthetic materials? Good luck in your quest to emulate the effect you like.

One of the local shops sells "plastic"??? woven baskets that fit around a half whiskey barrel. They are woven from some weatherproof plastic kind of strips with a woodgrain texture on them to simulate the real thing. They have to fit around a harrel because they don't have a bottom, they're just a sleeve. They also have them in windowbox shape. There's a smaller but similar one on eBay right now with a picture - I searched "patio basket". Maybe you can contact the manufacturer and they'd point you to a local seller.

Here is a link that might be useful: Here's a link to the one on eBay

Glad I could help, Donna! I've seen them at a shop called Granny's Cupboard in Mason City for the past few years. Here's their phone number, if you want to give them a call: 641-424-2156. I'm emailing you my address and I'll post your picture if you send it to me. Probably the others will want to see what we're talking about!

Happy Holidays Everybody! Hope you are all safe, happy and warm.

Okay, here's the picture of the one Donna's talking about, and YES, it's like what I'm talking about also. Now... who knows where to get these down in the Ames/Ankeny/Des Moines area?
Sorry I left this picture so big but if I reduce it the detail in the basket is gone.
