A great Iowa icon

I was sad to hear on KCRG this morning that Ken Lafferty would no longer be on their programming. This man knew everything about anything. One time in class he told us that he was one fat sponge that just absorbed everything he read. If he ever teaches a class again, I would recommend it to everyone. He's funny, witty and extremely knowledgeable!

Ken will definitely be missed! I've really enjoyed his classes and I love his no nonsense, laid-back approach to gardening.

"... if a little mulch gets in your grass who cares?"

Maybe he will write a book for average Iowa gardeners. I think it would be a good read with all of his common sense advice and funny stories. He obviously gardens for his own enjoymentand I can't imagine him not continuing to share his enthusiasm in some way. Wishful thinking on my part?
