Insectaries are places where beneficial insects can find food and shelter which can help keep them around to be there when you need them to both help control any insect pests and pollinate your vegetables. The linked article discusses this and another in the current issue of Fine Gardening magazine that discusses planting flowers among and with vegetables to much the same end.
