Food Grade DE for Lawn

Does anyone know the application rate for food grade DE for your lawn? ie: #'s per acre

Going to be a very bad year for ticks since most of the country did not get cold enough over the winter. Already found two ticks, one on myself and one on our dog in the last three days. I want to attack them before they attack us ;)

Food grade doesn't work for insect management in the garden.

Food grade Diamotaceous Earth is what is used for insect control in foods and in our gardens. However, it is not a good idea to spread it around on the lawn to control ticks since where the DE would end up (on the soil) is not where the ticks would be (up in the grass).
Proper lawn maintenance will do more to control ticks than DE will.
