i don't have a gnat problem with house plants because the only gnats i see are attracted to windows. it is only a spring/summer thing for us here in colorado. we don't leave fruit out so i can rule out that. any idea what attracts them to the windows and how i can get rid of them? all other related forum topics seems to focus on plants, fruits, etc. thanks in advance for the help. :)

Fungus gnats are problem here in Colorado all winter long and into spring. They pick up again in late fall. Fruit flies are generally a summer problem with over-ripe fruit.
They are attracted to light so finding them congregating on windows is not unusual.
You have to stop them where they are laying eggs. Check your houseplants again.
