The Ants Have Left The Building.....

Earlier this week, we had a sudden infestation of black ants. I found them by the hundreds in the cabinet where I store a honey jar, and that's what they were after.
I tossed the honey jar in the trash and killed as many ants as possible, but kept seeing them all over the kitchen for two days.
Then I remembered using instant grits on large anthills outdoors. I sprinkled about a teaspoon of grits on a paper towel and set it in the cabinet. That was three days ago and I haven't seen an ant for over 24 hours.
HOORAY!

It seems the ants love the instant grits and soon after they eat, the grits expand in their tummies and kill them.
No more ants!!

Sorry. The ants leaving was a coincidence rather than caused by the grits.

I have used cornmeal on my piles outside...it does seem to work...
I do have lot's of them and ant killer does not seem to be working..would love to have some other alternatives to this growing problem...LOL

Like jean001 said, it is a coincidence that the ants left. No one, in my lifetime has ever really seen and explode after ingesting grits, or corn meal. If you have actually seen this and can document it happening contact your states Ag School because they would like to know about it.
