Bugs of Unknown Species

I am not wealthy nor do I have unlimited time to spend in my garden, an evening here and there and Sat when I'm lucky. My point is whether there is an all-purpose insecticide that I can use on veggies and flowers? Right now something is chewing on my zinnias, eggplant and basil. I cannot buy a different product for each plant. I have some marigolds planted with my eggplant but I need some spray.
Can you help?

I'm afraid that it's always better to know who your pest is, so that the ideal product can be selected. Have you found any small beetles, caterpillars, or even slugs?

I have not actually seen anything - just holey leaves.
