Ants in House - Gone!

Posted by kitchenredo2 (My Page) on

I read on this forum about natural ways to get rid of ants. We had those tiny, annoying ants. They really liked it here - under my DD highchair was always a tasty morsel left behind after cleaning. Since I have 2 young children I didn't want to use poison so I tried cinnamon, and it worked!

I just took a piece of cinnamon bark and placed it under the baseboard heater where I saw them enter the dining room. The next day, no more ants. I guess they don't like the smell. So far, they haven't found an alternate route into the house.

Have to wait to see if is cause-and-effect or coincidence.

I read your message and am going to try cinnamon. I bought a large bottle at Sam's Club and am going to sprinkle that around. Hope it works.

Yes, we need an update......

Does the cinnamon bark work or just sprinkle plain old cinnamon. If you use cinnamon that has been in the cabinet for a while is that still effective or should I buy a new one?

Please let us know.

I'm not the original poster, but I used cinnamom, and the ants did not like it all. I sprinkled cinnamon, and they don't want to cross it.
