White catapillars/worms eating leaves of cherry tree

Every spring I have white catpillars/worms eating leaves on a Higan Cherry tree. They hide in the leaves folded. The last few years I've been spraying a "bad" pesticide (name starts with a C) but now I've been using only organics on my lawn so I'm wondering if there is a safer method. Would Hort oil work? I used it on my Hemlock scale with good success.

Thank you,
