What is damaging lotus leaves?

Something extremely voracious is eating my lotus leaves. The damage starts from the center and leaves a distinctive dried up skeleton of the leaf which soon falls off.

I am posting here again because ironically the same exact thing is happening to my lotus leaves, at the exact same time. There are strange scratch marks all over the leaves and the holes start out from the center as if something is chewing it or punching them out and works its way outwards until all that's left is a skeleton. People say its lack of fertilizer, but I wanna know if it's something eating the leaves.

Lack of fertilizer could cause a plants leaves to die off but that would not produce a lacy leaf, that is some insect. There are a number of these that could do that, Saw Fly larva are one, but you need to properly identify wha the problem is before applying any control. Seldom do the wee buggers that eat the leaves move off until there is no more leaf to eat so a good, close look can help find what it is.
