gross bug-what is this?

The gal I work w/ found this thing wandering around her house, and we have no clue what it might be. Hubby and I guess termite of some sort, but I cannot find a pic of one that looks like this. And this thing is pretty big, about 3/4" long. Anybody have any ideas, or links that could help? We're in MT, so termites aren't really the norm.

TIA for any clues.

Found your bug. Turns out they can sting. I knew it was a relative of our scorpions here in the south, but originally thought it was a Vinegarone.

Bite, not sting, and only if handled carelessly. Not really considered a problem other than that they are entirely creepy looking.
