Who laid eggs on my post?

Who laid eggs on my post? There are lots more. Should I remove them? If they are something beneficial I will convice DH they should hatch first.

Would it be possible to post a picture that is not so blurry? I can't quite see what you've got there.

Actually, the photo isn't that blurry. The egg mass is fuzzy, I mean, the picture is actually in pretty good focus. But anyway, or maybe I should say never mind, because whatever "they" are have hatched. The egg mass is even fuzzier now. There are little things nearby that look like some sort of baby bug with many legs or caterpillar or something, but they are not moving. To get a better picture I would have to use a microscope. Even with a loupe it is hard to see them. Here's how they look today: New Picture Here
I could not find pictures online that looked like these, all in rows, but they are similar to gypsy moth egg mass in color. I guess it's too late now :-(
