bean beetles

Any tried and true methods to combat the bean leaf beetle? It is eating up all my lovely pole beans (Rattlesnake variety). This is the second (or third??) generation. TIA

RE: bean beetles

Go out in the morning with a small propane torch like you would use to solder a copper pipe with.
Briefly pass the flame over the adult beetles singing their antennae. Once singed they don't eat, mate, or destroy beans.
Faster than hand picking them as the little buggers like to drop to the ground when disturbed.
Pinch the larvae and rub off the eggs with your thumb.
The larvae look like punk rock lemons.

RE: bean beetles

Wouldn't this, like, fry the beans?
