good job rhizo - thanks for your accuracy - i might add that it works on beetles and outher exoskeltoned insects because it 'absorbs lipids from the cuticle, the waxy outer layer of insects' exoskeletons, causing them to dehydrate. [they] die as a result of the water pressure deficiency. it also works against gastropods - commonly employed in gardening to defeat slugs. however, since slugs inhabit humid environments, efficacy is very low.'

it can't be repeated often enough, however, that it is really important to consider the big picture, because as you kill some "undesireable" life forms, you are also very likely killing some very beneficial ones along with them - so excercise care, and look for options that don't involve killing whenever you can.
