What kind of pest is this??

I found a "pest" in my tomato garden. It looked just like a light brown twig. It has legs on the front and back of its' body and is maybe 1"-2" long. Any ideas? Thanks for your help..it just looks odd, almost like a cabbage looper.

Perhaps a stick bug?

If so, you many want to visit the California Forum to learn how voracious these critters can be. Seems they're quite widespread through coastal SoCal.
