TB - Berna Derby

Here's a pic of Berna Derby that is being discussed in the other side of the forum. Not a real tall variety, but immense blooms and fantastic color. The blue tone is very hard to capture - I've taken dozens of pics just to get close. This one is too purple still, but a good shot.

I missed that discussion. Berna will look much 'bluer' on my desk computer. Nice form. I like those selfs with beards of the same color. Easier to fit into my mixed beds.

(I'll mention here I once accidently sliced a Dutch iris bulb into a salad --- pulled it instead of a green onion in the dark --- I even tasted it first thinking it looked a bit different --- still alive and no tummy ache.)

Thanks for posting the pic Mike! Iris Gal, the discussion is on the forum under "looking for historic iris." Berna Derby was named after my mother, by Ed & Art Watkins-hybridizers from New Hampshire in 1959. My mom was an avid iris grower and had huge terraced iris beds. I'm going to try and find a pic of some of her gardens.

Ooh, that would be a treat to see your Mom's gardens. Good luck with your search.
