| How sad I was to learn today that American Iris Society President Roy Epperson died very suddenly this past weekend.
While I didn't know Roy personally having never met him, I enjoyed reading his article in the October Bulletin where he described his initiation into the AIS in 1959. I am quite sure by the tone of his writing and the thoughtful expression in his picture that he must have been a kind gentlemen with a big heart along with a big love for iris. As a fairly recent member of the AIS, let me express my deepest sympathy to those of you who have lost a friend and mentor. |

| I offer my condolences as well. Never a member of the AIS but an iris lover and I'm sure it's a huge loss to the community. My best wishes to Roy's family and friends. I've had the rare opportunity to meet heroes and mentors in various regards, I would bet Mr. Epperson has touched many lives with knowledge and love. I'm saddened to hear of your loss. ~Wes |
