Hi Renee,
Just be sure not to plant the Louisianas too close. In fact, plant them as far away as possible from each other. They do very well in our area and they tend to "walk" all over each other. Within one season who could have a very mixed patch. Unless, of course, you don't mind that, then that's okay. In our club, our members always joke about the Louisianas walking around.

Impressive collection guys. I have a Giganticaerulea that came with my house. It looks like the wild one found near the Gulf of Mexico. It's the only really aggressive grower of my irises. Marie Delores is a great white iris. I also love Black Gamecock for a late season iris. Here in Louisiana, we have to divide our beds regularly to keep them neat anyway. So plant how you like. It do have some single color beds and some mixed. Depends on my color scheme. Anybody growing the Australian varieties. I've only seen them in books.

Iris gal....you seem informed, so I thought I would direct this to you and anyone with info....I built a large pond in my back field with several small islands...I have picked up some water lilies from Costco and a few friends but have been only able to plant in small areas here and there....retired and limited budget but would like to locate a source for a larger selction of reasonable water iris...

Iris gal......so I looked at the Touson area iris side...great, that is what I want...a selection of all those neat looking iris (wish)...and as I lay on the couch trying to recover from yesterdays 30 mile walk, run, crawl..I'm looking at all my dahlia tubers spread on the living room floor and i'm thinking...I always have a lot of tubers which end up on the cutting room floor and end up with no name but are still good tubers..so maybe there is an iris grower who has a large selection of roots, good, maybe not the best size but a nice selction.......ah, I can see my muddy banks with an Easter display of colors

Groall,

I am no expert on water loving iris here in drought-city.
I have my pots of Japanese iris in an old water-filled sled!

Your pond sounds fantastic and Japanese or/and Louisianas on the banks ~ swoon.

For pricing you need to check the websites. $6.00 seems to be an average price for older Japanese intros. Aitkins Flower Fantasy here on the west coast had some older Louisianas last year at $4.00. Their 2010 catalog is supposed to be up this week.

If you haven't been warned about pseudocorus let me be the first. Very invasive. There are some hybrids that may be better behaved.

Happy hunting!
