unless they are soft and mushy they will probably still grow. Nothing ventured...

they ought to, i got some from a freind that were super dried out, i planted them and none of them sprouted (this is with lots of watering) left them till spring and by may nothing had happened, so i dropped them in a bucket of water for 2 or 3 days then planted them again, and viola! new growth. so if you can give them a good soak before planting, that's the only thing which seemed to save mine.

I wouldn't soak bearded iris in water for fear that they'd rot, but I agree;
try 'em!

hertrains, you are in zone 9b, can you grow breaded iris & do they bloom. A friend in FL. got breaded iris from Tenn., they grew tall-40", but did not bloom.
What can she do about this problem?

Since my bulbs have only been in the ground a few days, I don't know how they will do. However, I do see bearded iris growing around town, so I assume they will bloom if planted properly.

Here in Zone 9B, we have had temperatures in the 20's several nights this year, and our summers are very hot and dry. We're not tropical by any means.
