Name Game

Anyone know which iris this might be? I'm not even looking for a specific name so much as names of similar iris, as I'd like to get one like this one but it doesn't need to be identifical.

RE: Name Game

My guess is Mountain Melody.

Also check out Ruffled Queen, Belvi Queen, Tufatul, Sing Out, and Chickasaw Sue at Blue J Iris.

It's a subtle iris.

RE: Name Game

Thanks Renee. I don't think it's any of those; they look too orange or purple. The color in the picture is accurate.

RE: Name Game

My guess would be Roundup. Also try Patina, and the Innerst ones like Tennessee Gentleman, Tennessee Women.

RE: Name Game

My best guess is Smoke Rings, HM'73, Gibson'72

It often photographs pinker than it is.

RE: Name Game

I think the closest match is Roundup. Patina is lovely too. I don't think it was Smoke Rings because of the yellow on the falls, but a gardener in that same neighborhood did have what I think is Smoke Rings. Very cool color.

RE: Name Game

'Smoke Rings' does have the "Coleman's dry mustard" yellow falls which are often 'blown out' in photos. I found it very hard to get an accurate photo.

Haven't seen 'Patina' in person. Pictures look as tho its fall edge is narrower. But the main reason I would suspect 'Smoke Rings' is the beard. Patina's beard is a deep antique gold. 'Smoke Rings' beard looks exactly like the above photo.

I've never seen 'Roundup'. Do you know what year or which hybridzer?

RE: Name Game

Roundup is Keppel '74.

I don't think the mystery iris is Patina either ~ it looks too yellow to be the mystery iris, but I like it.

I am going to order Smoke Rings again. I ordered it once but it hasn't bloomed for me and I'm not sure I still have it. I haven't seen Smoke Rings in person for sure, just one that I thought might be Smoke Rings based on the smoky pink color of the borders.
