Blue flag iris (Iris virginica shrevei) are native to my area. I live next to a small manmade wetland area. So far, I haven't had much luck with stuff planted too near the water. I was thinking about planting this sort of iris, but is concern that the area also under the shade of a cottonwood tree. I can see if I can find a spot where there is more direct sun.

Are these as easy to grow as other irises and can they take a bit of a shade.
