Thornbird!

A love it or hate it iris. Some years mine is more ecru.

I love it ........if you do not......I will trade for it. We all have our likes and dislikes.

I'm not too fond of the greenish colored iris either, but Thornbird has such a great form, it multiplies well & consistently blooms nicely every spring. Here it is in my garden

Yay! Thornbird it is! I'm hoping if it's a named plant I might like it more. I figured if I didn't like it I could just dig it up. If you want to trade... Anything in the purplish range would be way better appreciated. I bought two gallon size pots for $12 last fall to fill a space in our planters that the sprinklers just don't seem to hit. The iris seems happy enough.
I've never dug up and divided iris before but it doesn't seem hard. The little rhizomes I bought additionally loose were so tiny, but have grown a lot so far this spring! I hope at least one blooms, but I don't know how long it takes for a rhizome to "mature"...

I just got Thornbird last year.. I put it by County Cork and Wm. Setchell.. We'll see how that works out when they bloom. Thanks for posting your pictures... I'm looking forward to seeing mine bloom now too!
