Do iris take a year to adapt to a new bed?

How long does it take iris to adapt to a new bed? We built a new raised bed for mixed perennials in 2004. A forum member generously gave me some of her divisions, plus I had a few unnamed ones from the old bed. These we planted in August (?) of '04. Hardly any bloomed last year (2005). I was wondering if it takes a while for them to adapt to a new site. There was lots of tall healthy foliage.

I was also worried (later in the summer) that the new bed was too moist. Since we planted lots of new perennials last year, all summer long I was babying a new plant with extra water. I tried to keep the water away from the iris, but that's sometimes hard to do. This year we will not be planting large numbers of new perennials since the bed's basic framework plantings are "finished": so will probably not need to water so much.

This spring I have noticed that they have really increased. The rhizomes that last year seemed to have nothing but leaves now are thickly surrounded with babies.

Does that mean that they've finished adapting and will bloom this year?
