I don't even have any bloom yet, but have to go check my own 2 x a day to see what and if there are any buds coming...

Yes, I hate work during iris season.

Where I live now, the sun is up early enough for me to make coffee, make the rounds of the iris beds, come in for a second cup and go out and look again - all before breakfast and getting ready for work.

I really hate it when I know a cross needs to be made because conditions are right, but I am stuck at work.

I took GNU AGAIN and SQUID SQUIRT to work week before last and they got a lot of attention but no converts, alas.

As I actually work from home it isn't too much of a problem except that I don't get so much work done. I have Schaeffer and Sacks siberian irises on my screen, from their lovely range of photos on their Joe Pye Weed web site. I can dream that I might one day have as beautiful siberians growing in my garden.
What I resent most is that it invariably rains heavily on the days I have the most time to get round and do some pollenation. I also resent having to pcik irises for the show - LOL.
I have just finished a bumper season of redigging and building up beds above the wet clay level, and I'm expecting good results this year.
