Guidance on

I bought a house five years ago, and in the flower garden was a stand of what I thought was some sort of grass. This year one of the grasses has bloomed and it appears these are irises! I suspect that a winter tree trimming allowed more sunlight on this area.

My guess, based on some quick internet reading, is that these are crested iris. The stalks are about 20 inches high. Any guidance on what I have here?

Those look like Siberian irises. Congratulations- you have quite a lovely clump!

Thank you so much for your response, hosenemesis. It gets me on the right research path. I had it in my mind that Siberian irises were very tall. But that's not always the case.
