short bloom stems on siberian iris

gailwrite

My siberian iris (the woman who gave them to me had dug them up in the Ohio bottoms and she called them "swamp" iris) have generally bloomed with long bloom stems - this year the foliage almost hides all the blooms and there don't seem to be as many blooms. We spread 10-10-10 lightly over the entire garden in March? the spring was unduly early in KY, they bloomed a week earlier than in past years? do they need dividing? Do they need to recover from last year's division? Suggestions Please.
