Iris Seeds

Several of my irises have set seeds. How soon should I cut them off the stalk? And that what do I do with them then? How soon in spring should they be planted and how long to sprout? As you can tell, I've never done this before. Thanks for the input.

When the pods start to split you can harvest the seeds - let them dry out before storing. They need to go through a cold cycle, so they can be planted in pots in the fall and left out to germinate in Spring.
