Bearded iris won't bloom

I have had bearded iris for four years and for the first two years it bloomed nicely. Last year it did not bloom but had beautiful foliage. I was told that it needed to be split up, so I did that in the fall of last year. It is now full of foliage but is not blooming again. Here in the Asheville NC area all other Irises I see are blooming. What am I doing wrong?
