Japanese iris

I planted one japanese iris about three years ago. This year there are about thirty buds. Can I pick them for flower arrangements and how do they hold up in the vase?

I don't recall picking any last year. SI supposedly work well as cut flowers, so why not JI. You may just have to experiment.

I have a few different types, though they vary very slightly...but none of them last more than two days in water, and really don't look so hot after one day. They do spread fast, don't they??
