Visited Presby Memorial Iris Gardens Yesterday

| while I had read about this garden in Montclair NJ I had never gotten there until yesterday. It was a wonderful experience and was a bit overwhelming as I have never seen a collection of plants so diverse in one location. I would highly reccomend it to anyone interested. |

| bogey, i just saw a blub on njn and then googled it. i am hoping to get there in the next couple of days, if not, it's definitely on my must see before i die places. i couldn't believe just what i was seeing on their website and the news report did an excellent piece on it. did you take a bunch of pictures? i don't know if i would know where to start. i visited a much smaller place on monday, which i absolutely loved. i would think i died and went to heaven going to presby. i'd love to see any pictures you took, if in fact you did. maryanne |

I'm still here. just haven't posted much lately.
Presby had a great display this year. Still alot of iris if anyone cares to visit this weekend, but they are just past peak.
I am always amazed at the number of visitors and especially the large number of artists who sit and draw/paint/photograph the iris.
A great place to visit, and its free (donations accepted!).
Don't forget the Japanese Siberian and Louisiana displays at Presby if you can't get up there in the next few days.Some Spurias too.
The beardless will be blooming thru late June.
I think the Japanese display is particularly spectacular, although much smaller than the beardeds.

Presby? Its' still around ? Wow. I'm very close to Montclair but heard the garden was vandalized and destroyed. When did they re-plant the Iris garden there ?

There was some vandalism a couple years ago, but it was just 2 beds. The garden was neve closed down. In fact it is bigger and better than ever. It was a wonderful show this year. The Japanese are still blooming but the beardeds are done for the year. We should have some bearded rebloom in the fall however.
