I have recently purchased this Iris and when it bloomed it has a double bloom on 2 separate stalks. It is the first bloom on each stalk, so that may mean something. I've got a dozen or more varieties in my garden but this is the first double i've seen.

It looks like the stalks are not developing well, so the flowers are opening all crowded together. My Alice Goodman does that- the buds are not out on branches away from the stalk, so they all get crowded together and when they bloom they squish one another. Renee

I have only seen that on rebloomer's 2nd bloom.

The bloom is an individual one. if you notice in the picture, on the other stalk, there is a single bud. That bud also opened as a double. I see that some of the buds lower down on the first stalk are crowded and may very well look like a double bloom if they bloom at the same time, but the blooms that I'm referring to are not two separate blooms, they each came out of one bud. So I'm still puzzled.
