two iris - are they them same variety

the top iris - i have four - i found this a field behind my grandmother's old homeplace - i have had them in my garden for three years - three of them bloomed this year for the first time -

the lower photo - i discovered today while reading about a french iris lover of the 19th century - jean-nicolas lemon

to me these two look identical - what is your thinking

It looks pretty close, but I couldn't be sure. I love the historic irises.

I don't think they are the same. I have the same one you do though and the two suggestions I got were Quaker Lady and Rameses.

my suggestion would be alcazar for you, i'm sure that i've seen yours before.

i have a similar iris but it is not the same. i have an excellent picture but i still need to figure out how to post pics here...

This is like those "Can You Find Six Differences?" pictures!

looks to me like the 2nd beard has white on the end,
& the haft marks are more white & less brownish.

It looks like the falls are a more saturated burgundy, too, but that could be the difference between a new bloom & an old one.

Ok, my guess is Sambucina, here she is:

Couldn't be Alcazar because its more purple.
