blooming age??

I know that it's will vary from iris/zone/soil etc.. But what is the avearge age of an iris when it will bloom the first time.. Say, I have several babies and they are in good soil, get plenty of water and are in full sun... I know that a Mother will not bloom again but she will produce babies... Thank you ..QB

In theory one year. Some of mine are vigorous enuf for the offspring to bloom the following year. Many 2 years in my garden. Some 3.

Sometimes someone will post 'this one skips a year'. But usually the clump is too large to determine the age of the rhizomes in bloom.

In my soil and climate it takes one year, unless it's a reblooming iris, then they can bloom the same year.
