Dawn of Change - branching?

Pretty flower won "Dawn of Change" an HM but look at the branching! Bleeck. The bottom branch begins 19 inches from the ground. 9 inches to the next, 6 in. to next, and 5 inches to the base of the top double-socketed bloom. Overall this year it's measuring 44 inches while others are way under normal height. Colors are per usual while "Afternoon Delight" and "Heather Blush" look quite washed out (need partial shade). "Beverly Sills" just opened to full throtle color as did "Joyce Terry".

My theory that our outrageously heavy rainfall the past season replaced oxygen in the soil to the detriment of iris height has been shot down.

My other theory stands. Cold temps. enrich colors in some susceptible iris. The constant rains kept things warmer here.

was so unfocused!
