What a lovely, tailored iris. Unfortunately, it isn't Eagle's Landing. This looks to be an historic iris, so I would look through the gallery at the Historical Iris Preservation Society to see if I could find something that looked like it.

I did as you suggested and looked through the HIPS gallery, only to find what I believe to be an exact match with White City! Would anyone more experienced be able to confirm or deny my suspicions?

Looks very like it to my eye. How tall is it? This site lists it as 40" tall, early to mid season, didn't you say this was the first to bloom? It also says it is well budded & the buds are widely spaced, which seems to me yours is.

There is a yard stick leaning against the house as a measure. The top bloom has already faded (taken out by a rainstorm) which would have made it almost exactly 40 inches. *Dances*

White City is still popular and used by garden designers in the UK. It appears to be very tall.

taking a pic.. of a white flower.. in front of white siding.. might wash out some of the subtleties needed to compare colors...

its the light purple flush that is problematic ...
