My best guess for unknown #1 is Oklahoma Crude - Black'89

Thank you iris gal. Oklahoma Crude has a white beard and mine has a yellow beard. Sure is close. Could this be one he hyberdized himself?

It looks as tho your Oklahoma C. has a yellow beard in the throat ending with a lighter color. Not yellow down to the very tip.

I'm not saying it's a match but since I examined O.C. very closely there's that familiar feeling when I look at your picture that I know this iris. The pictures I have of it are not my own so I can't post them. But they do show yellow in the throat ending a lighter color. Unless the picture is shot at an angle showing this color change, the beard would appear to be white-ish.

There ia one other I can't recall (name) that is similar but its falls weren't as deep as O.C.

The only way to really verify, besides growing them side by side, is to diagram the branch pattern. Heights can vary season to season. The branching pattern remains.

Thank you so much Iris Gal. I have so much to learn. I am so intriqued with the iris and all its variations. Truly a beautiful flower. I don't know why I hadn't noticed them before. They sure have my attention now!
