This is a very interestingly colored iris. I am no expert, but it looks to me like the iris in the picture is missing a standard. So that could be making a difference. It looks similar enough to the photo on the hybridizer's, Headrick's site that I think it is Charlotte Rose, but as I say I am not an expert. It does have some of the same veining on the falls as the pic on the His Iris Garden site. I have found that when it is cool my iris are more vivid in color. This iris looks pretty vivid to me. If it is hot, then they are lighter in color, don't last as long as they get dried out too fast. Iris aren't really long lasting flowers individually, at least not to me. Longer than a daylily, though. I have my iris in a xeriscape, and I do water them when they are blooming, but they don't get a lot of supplemental water later when it is hotter, so maybe that is why they don't last long for me. Thank you. I actually went out this morning and another one of the blooms opened. It looks identical to the pic from His Iris Garden! It was warm out this morning so I guess I got my answer. It wasn't as intense and you can actually see the veining on it. I have always loved irises but I am loving them even more. It's neat to see how different EACH bloom can be. It's also nice to know that just because one bloom doesn't bloom "right" doesn't mean they will all bloom that way!
