What are these unusual seeds on the Iris stalks?

I was at my grandmother's house this weekend when she pointed out these peculiar bulb-like objects on her stalks. She said this was the first year she had seen them, and she's had them for at least 10 years. We started to think maybe they were brand new bulbs! However, after thinking that, we were scared maybe we pulled them off to early. They are round and green (as you can see in the pictures on the link provided). If we plant these, will they turn into an iris plant? Nana, my grandmother, mentioned that the flowers were hybrid rhizome irises. Thanks a heap for taking the time to help us! We appreciate it!

those are unripe seed pods.

let them dry out in the sun, they may or may not ripen.

read here on how to grow the seeds (third post from the top)

Here is a link that might be useful: how to hybridize and grow iris
