Funny. I just photographed this on Tuesday night in a new friend's garden (by way of gardenweb). If you think it's a close match, I can ask for the name. Or I'll ask her to come over to this forum and answer directly.

The first one looks like a very old historic iris;
longer, narrower standards & falls, etc.

Regattagirl's iris looks to be a much newer variety;
fatter standards & falls, & more color variagion & ruffling on the falls.

I don't recognize either one, but they're beautiful!

The colored streaks down the center of the falls don't appear to be the same color, IMHO.

I am amazed at how close some of them are in appearance. I have 2 different NO ID pink ruffled ones, and besides them being different heights, one can see a difference in them (to the untrained iris eye anyway) on the inside of them only.

Me too...untrained, that is. I did notice fairly quickly that you have to look down at them too for differences, not just from the sides.

The one in my photo (but not so apparent in the photo) did seem to glow with an iridescent blue/purple line from the middle of the falls.

Thanks guys. I think it must be an older variety as well, just from the photos I've been looking at.
