Hurrah!!! I'm a happy lady

I have been buying a few flowers each year with my meager budget. I usually only have a budget of about $50 for my spring garden, so it is mostly annuals. At $8 to $25 each for iris and lily fans I always figured I would never have the garden I want.
At least for the iris -- I have found two people willing to let me thin their iris that need it badly and to take plants from roots that have more than one fan on a root.
At last I can have more colors of iris!!!! It is going to be about 100 degrees and humid tomorrow -- I may pass out from the heat, but I'm still happy. Yippee!
By the way--I didn't know that about not using mulch on them -- my dogs never let the mulch stay too close to the plants anyway, but I'll have to go home and relocate the mulch on the iris to another spot that needs it.

Thats a great way to get plants and most gardeners are willing to share.

You might search, & post, on your local freecycle & craigslist sites, too, & check gardenweb's Oklahoma Gardening Forum's Exchanges Page.

It's fun to have a serendipitous garden!

What type of daylilies do you like? Come over and join us on the daylily forum too. You can learn alot there about growing daylilies. If you like lilies (grown from bulbs) they are gorgeous too but quite different from daylilies. The lily forum is abit slow but still useful.

Thanks Rita! I'll check out the lily forum as well. I have a few pretty asiatic lilies, but the daylilies have so many blooms they seem to brighten the garden for so long! When I think of beautiful gardens I always think of iris and lilies, and they seem to be much less fussy to grow than some plants. I'm using liquid copper on my roses, which I have decided must just be in the wrong place, and I planted some glads this year that look terribly wrong and are going to get the fungal treatment as well and hopefully it helps.
