A neighbor dug out a bunch of tall bearded irises to make way for a path. They just finished blooming about two or three weeks ago. The fans, stems (with faded blooms) and most of the roots are intact. I am wondering how I should plant them-- cut the fans back and plant now? plant the whole plant and try to prop up the sure to flop leaves? cut the fans back and hold them until the Fall?

What do you all think is best?
