My Iris wouldn't bloom this year . . .

I just moved into a mobile home. On the property were a lot of mid-sized (dwarf variety?) Iris. I noticed that only one fan bloomed this year out of all of them. Is there anything I can do to help them along so that they bloom next year ? Is there a fertilizer or supplement that will encourage them to bloom ?
Thanks.

Make sure they get good sun. Also it's possible that they are overgrown and may need dividing. If so, I believe you want to keep the newer growth....and pitch the older part of the plant.....at least that's what I've read.

I'm sure there's some tips on dividing iris out there online somewhere.

As for fertilizer, I'm not sure. But I do know that making sure that the rhizome (bulb part) of the plant gets sunshine is very important. From what I've learned the rhizome part should not be completely submerged in the ground.

Hope this helps. If not, I'm sure someone will come to your rescue.

    Hi there,

If you go to the top of the iris forum page, just under the title is a link to the FAQ page, which has a link to a page about your topic about no blooms, and also has a link to how to divide and replant your iris. Good luck!
