Thanks Renee! I didn't know that I would love them the way I do until I was driving by a garden with a ton of them in bloom. Pictures versus live are 2 different things. In person they knocked my socks off. I am going to go and have a look.

Me too- Rena'. I never cared for them until I saw my first clump of blues. That did me in, and even though I do not have any blues planned in my garden, I have five blue irises.

Your piece on the blues is terrific--my "lust list" just got a lot bigger. Alas, my garden is no larger than it ever was!! Consequently, this is the time of year when I start circling the yard like a hyena looking over a herd of antelope, trying to spot the weak ones--the places where I might be able to squeeze in another one--or two.

Hahahah- Kay- "circling the yard like a hyena looking over a herd of antelope, trying to spot the weak ones." That is a great description of my peregrinations around the yard! I'm also imagining sunny spots where there are none. At this time of year, there are pockets that get sun that disappear in a month's time, and I full well know that, but irises get planted there anyway.

I like blue iris, and thanks for the link to the post. I just bought World Premier in a pot this spring, and it is indeed a lovely iris. Have several others, a historic that is similar to Rodney Deal's, and they look so nice with the other things that bloom at that time.

I like the hyena metaphor, Kay. I need to get that mindset more and maybe my garden would improve.
