They look different to me. The bottom one is more ruffled. I suppose it might be the soil or weather difference, though. Did you notice any difference in the plants? How about branching and bud count? That might help you determine if they are the same iris.

Sue, the hafts would be on the sides of the base of the beard (in Persian Berry the hafts cover a large area) and in the second pic they look to be veined in violet.

I don't know if there is a technical term for the area around & below the beard?
