No no, not excess water (even in sandy soil). They are resting after their spring growth. The summer is ugly iris time and is why some people insist on cutting back the leaves.

Beardeds often take 2 years to settle in and bloom. Keep the faith!

PS: you will need to be diligent with a fertilizing schedule in sandy soil.

Thank you. I was told before, they didn't need fertilizing or extra plant food. That sure could have a lot to do with my problem. The poor babies are starving! I got one new last year, that is supposed to bloom again this fall. That's the only one that flowered for me. It probably had enough food stored up for one last flower. Thanks again, I'll feed them, then let them rest.
