rhyzome but not roots

I wonder if this will make it and if this is customy procedure for some growers.
My daughter bought some iris roots from a vendor at a sidewalk sale and gave them to me.
I was astonished by the them; there were two and about the size of a rounded nickel each with the leaves at the top but trimmed. However, the plant was very clean like it had been laundered and the roots were totally missing.
I've traded and bought roots in the past and all of them had roots attached to the rhyzome and most had little clinging dirt paricles, as well. I have heard that you can clean them in chlorox but never have I done that becasue that sounds harsh to me, and I did not know the ratio.
Any ideas if these rootless iris will make it?
