i have bought several new irises that i cannot plant right away. what is the best way to hold them? should/can i plant them into pots and later put them in their permanent location? how long can they wait?

RE: waiting to plant new iris

Treat them like bulbs - in mesh or paper bags somewhere out of the sun. The latest I've been able to plant successfully is about the middle of August. So I would try to get them into the ground in the next couple of weeks.
