If you are going to hybridize it makes a big difference :)

Tets tend to be wider in flower form. Growth habits vary, there is no advantage there.

I'm not going to hybridize but I wouldn't mind bigger flowers. So I gather everything I look at from Joe Pye Weed might have somewhat smaller flowers (in some cases they make a point of it in the catalog) since they only have diploids, but they should multiply as robustly as the tets. As a case in point, I actually slightly prefer Dance Party at JPW to How Audacious at Ensata, though both are gorgeous. I could be swung by information related to vigor. But I guess life wasn't meant to be easy!
