mother rhizomes

hey all, I'm in the process of digging up & moving all my iris. I know how to separate & trim them down & how to re~plant them all. my question is about what to do with the "mother" rhizomes. do I replant them or toss them out. I have a lot of iris to transplant & they haven't been moved in 6 years. I've run into a few iris borers, but for the most part they are looking pretty good so far. I've dug up about 50% of them so far. so, what do you all say? replant or toss out the mothers? I don't want to waste my time replanting if you all think they won't do anything, on the other hand I don't want to throw them out if you all think they will make new increases, either. I'll go with the higher % of yes or no answers. thanks alot.
