Very Nice People at Cooley's

I ordered from Cooley's for the first time, a last-minute "must have this iris!" purchase just two weeks ago. Today they called, and the field people had a miscommunication with the office, and were out of this (cheap) iris I just had to have.

So they are sending me another that looks almost identical. How nice, huh? Especially since the replacement iris cost over four times as much as the original. And I'm getting two. Sheesh, I guess I'll be ordering a whole lotta irises from them next year!

I hope they don't go broke with this kind of customer service.

Which iris is it?

I ordered Carnival Ride to go with a gorgeous Henry Fonda rose and a daylily called Southern Patriot: a burgundy, white and gold combo. I was so happy to find it there for six bucks! But they were out, so they are sending me Phoebe's Frolic and Looky Loo. I wanted the gold edge on the standards, but Looky Loo seems to be a better plant, so... I'll plant them together and see what happens.

Hey, wait a minute. I went to UCLA!!!!

Looky Loo might even be better with Henry Fonda. Haven't seen a pic of Phoebe's Frolic yet. My tall beardeds bloom before my roses - drats!

I grew Carnival Ride, and it was a fantastic performer. It and the other two are children of Ring Around Rosie, which won the Wister Medal one year. I haven't grown Looky Loo or Phoebe's Frolic, but in addition to Carnival Ride, I grew Whispering Spirits, another in that family, and it, too, was a terrific grower and bloomer.

Good luck--my guess is they'll grow well for you.
